Buyer's Guide

Specify barrier type based on the hazard — rack end guards protect racking from forklift impacts; column protectors shield structural steel; floor-mounted guard rails define traffic lanes and protect walls and equipment. Key specs: impact rating (some barriers are rated to absorb specific forklift impact forces), mounting method (bolt-down vs. surface-mount), and height. High-visibility yellow powder coat is standard for safety applications. For dock openings, dock safety chains or gates prevent falls into open dock pits.

Safety/Compliance: OSHA 29 CFR 1910.23 covers guarding of floor openings and open-sided floors. ANSI/RMI 16.1 references rack protection. Dock pit guarding is required when the leveler is in the stored position and the dock is not in use.
